The Moto G8 is the upcoming mid-range device from Motorola mobility and the successor to G7. The device expected to be launched in late-February at MWC 2020, since Motorola announced G7 at MWC 2019. The forthcoming mid-ranger from Moto may arrive with many exciting features like 6.5 inch edge to edge display, Snapdragon 636 CPU, 6GB Ram, 3300 mAh battery with 15W Quick Charger, Android Q and many more.
As we said earlier, Motorola is developing the next Moto G device to launch at MWC 2020 which is going to take place from February 24 to 27. So we expect the next G series device will hit the shelves in March 2020. The Moto G7 mid-ranger came with the price tag of $300 for unlocked edition and available for ₹16999 in India. So the successor of G7 may come with the price tag of $330-350 range for unlocked edition. The launch price of Moto G8 in India might be in the range of ₹16500-17500. However, the prices will come down soon after the release.
The Moto G8 mid-ranger is coming with 6.5 inch LTPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution and also sport 19:9 aspect ratio, according to leaks. The device sports edge to edge to display with very thin bezels and chin. So the body size of G8 might be similar to that of G7 albeit the increase in screen size. The successor of G7 may feature small water drop notch for accommodating the front facing Camera. The color quality and color temperature may get improved in G8 over its predecessor. More details about the display of Moto G8 will be revealed in coming days.
Since the G7 is powered by Snapdragon 632 chipset, we expect the successor will come with Snapdragon 636 under the hood. The Snapdragon 636 arrived with many major improvements over 632 and best suitable for gaming and light activity.
The chipset contains Eight Kryo 260 cores clocked upto 1.8 Ghz with exclusive support for 64-bit Android OS. Since the cores are built on 14nm process, battery usage is limited. The chipset also contains Adreno 509 GPU which is designed especially for modern graphics demanding games. The X12 LTE modem is another great feature of Snapdragon 636 chipset. The modem supports download speeds upto 600Mbps and upload speeds upto 150Mbps. So users of G8 can enjoy lightening fast speeds on supported carriers.
The chipset also comes with Qualcomm Quick charge 4 support which charges the battery upto 50 percent in just 15 mins. Other notable features of the chipset are Bluetooth 5.0, support for 4K ultra HD video processing, slowmotion capture at 1080p@120fps, Hexagon 680 DSP for low power activities and Qualcomm aptX, Aqstic Audio technology.
The Moto G8 mid-ranger will feature 12MP front facing Camera with HDR support and 1080p video recording support, according to some leaks. The Rear Camera of the device may contain 12MP + 8MP + 8MP or 16MP + 8MP sensor combination for depth recognition and better Potrait effect. Recent leaks through XDA developers pointed that either Moto G8 or G8 Plus will sport a triple Camera sensor design. The Rear Camera also contain LED flash and will support 4K UltraHD video recording at 30fps and slowmotion recording at FullHD@60fps. In addition to these, we expect the device will feature optical image stabilization too. More features of Moto G8 Camera will be revealed in coming days.
The upcoming mid-range device of G series may sport 3300mAh battery, according to latest reports. Since the device sporting 6.5 inch display we can expect average battery life for normal user. However, as the device supports Quick charge, users can charge it up quickly.
Moto G8 will come with Android 10 as pre-installed OS, which is released officially by Google on September 3rd. The mid-ranger may receive another major Android update i.e., Android 11 only and may get security updates upto two years.
The main features of Android 10 include Full Gesture interface without Back or Overview buttons, System-wide dark theme, Imrpovements to Camera software, Bubbles feature for messaging, improved Privacy and location sharing options, Live Captions, Battery saver scheduler, Native support for desktop mode, Focus mode and so on. In coming days, more details about Android 10 will be revealed. There is no codename for Android 10 and also next android versions as Google announced that they have dropped the tradition of naming new versions with Desserts.
The predecessor of Moto G8 shipped with 15watts USB Type-C charger supporting Quick charge. There is no Wireless charge support in G7. However, we expect that the next mid-ranger from Moto will arrive with Quick Charge 4 and Wireless charging support.
Using Quick Charge 4 technology, Moto G8 can be charged upto 50 percent from 0 percent in just 15 minutes. The Quick Charge 4 tech is 20-30 percent more power efficient than previous generation, so there will lesser heat generation and thus, battery life gets improved. We hope G8 come with wireless charging support. In coming days, more details about the G8 charging capabilities will be revealed.
