Samsung officially announces the next flagship chipset which will power the Galaxy S9 and S9+ flagships. Many details about Exynos 9810 chipset have been disclosed officially by Samsung.
In Exynos 9810, Samsung used four third generation custom cores cores clocked at 2.9 Ghz for great peformance and the remaining four cores optimized for efficiency. The chipset is built on second generation 10nm FinFET node, so offers better performance and efficiency than its predecessor. So it seems that Galaxy S9 will beat iPhone X in both single core and multicore benchmarks, due to these massive improvements.
The chipset which powers Galaxy S9 comes with sophisticated AI Features to utilize neural networks for faster and deep processing. The features allows the processor to do a hybrid 3D facial scan, accurately and quickly. So with the new chipset, it seems that Samsung steps into face recognition era. The processor stores vitals like Fingerprint, Face and Iris data in a secure area and process via a dedicated Secure Processing Unit.
Samsung massively upgraded the modem technology in the latest chipset. The LTE modem in Exynos 9810 supports Cat. 18 download speeds upto 1.2 Gbps with 6X carrier aggregation and upto 200Mbps upload speeds. The other features of the modem are 4×4 MIMO, 256-QAM, and eLAA technology.
The chipset arrives with 4K video recording and playback at 120fps support. So Galaxy S9 users probably able to capture super-slow motion 4K videos. Samsung opted for ARM Mali-G72 GPU, which contains 18 cores clocked at 700Mhz. Overall, there will be about 20 percent improvement in Graphics perfoemance compared to its predecessor. So Galaxy S9 and S9+ devices are going to be graphics powerhouses, because of these significant refinements.
In Galaxy Note 9 aka successor of Note 8, the South Korean tech giant may use the same chipset with slight changes. Specs sheet of Exynos 9810 will be revealed in comimg days.
